Just came in from meeting with a young guy this evening.
To protect the identity of the young man I will not give to much away about this guy but to say he in his early 20's and had a dream but life almost rob him of that vision for his life.
What I mean is this. The young man five years ago had a dream to set up a enterprise/ venture that would help young people deal with real issues that they face today in a medium that they prefer. It's a great idea, but it was almost lost.
I spent 90 minutes with this young guy trying to find out was his passion, drive, vision I got nothing but clique answers that anyone could of said. But after drilling down a while he began to share that this was a dream / vision from five years ago, BUT he thought it would never happen so don't thinking about it!!!!
(DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR)
When this young guy began speaking about his vision, you could not stop him. He even had a name for the venture and made a song about it. (This was a hidden treasure that could have been hidden for ever) Following a further thirty minutes we devised a plan how we / he could get this plan of the ground. Needless to say the individual is feeling pumped about what tomorrow will bring, compared to feeling quite downcast.
Now the question is HAVE YOU had a dream that has slipped away? I HAVE
I remember being young and I wanted to be a professional basketball player. I would train 5/6 times a week, train first thing in the morning for a hour before college, spend the weekend playing whilst friends went to the town. I lived basketball and it was my dream, but that dream never became a reality.
Some might say it was because I wasn't 6ft plus, because I never had the jumping ability of a frog or because I was born in a wrong country that's dominated by football.
Those was all potentially valid points but the truth was I listened to the negativity from those around me.
"Your to small", "Wrong country for basketball", "Education education". I also listened to that negativity that was inside me "I'm not good enough". Before I knew it I played with a lack of confidence so when the opportunities arised to showcase my talents before certain coaches I was found wanting. Not because I never had the talent but I lacked the belief.
What I needed then was a person to say "You Can DO IT", "Dreams do come true" and "This is how we (together)can do it". That person could have made all the difference. I'm not saying that I would with that person be now playing in the NBA. But what I am saying is at least I could have said it went for it 100% no regrets.
Like that young man tonight, he had the dream all he needed was some one to say "DON'T LOSE YOUR WAY", "DREAMS DO COME TRUE", "Here is a plan of attack".
I have learned from my mistakes and I am implementing those people who have encouragement, wise word, knowledge me to help me is fulfilling my new dreams. Questions is DO YOU
Remember "God's gift to man if life, what you do with that life is your gift back to God"
Bless
