Losing your way

Just came in from meeting with a young guy this evening.

To protect the identity of the young man I will not give to much away about this guy but to say he in his early 20's and had a dream but life almost rob him of that vision for his life.

What I mean is this. The young man five years ago had a dream to set up a enterprise/ venture that would help young people deal with real issues that they face today in a medium that they prefer. It's a great idea, but it was almost lost.
I spent 90 minutes with this young guy trying to find out was his passion, drive, vision I got nothing but clique answers that anyone could of said. But after drilling down a while he began to share that this was a dream / vision from five years ago, BUT he thought it would never happen so don't thinking about it!!!!

(DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR)

When this young guy began speaking about his vision, you could not stop him. He even had a name for the venture and made a song about it. (This was a hidden treasure that could have been hidden for ever) Following a further thirty minutes we devised a plan how we / he could get this plan of the ground. Needless to say the individual is feeling pumped about what tomorrow will bring, compared to feeling quite downcast.

Now the question is HAVE YOU had a dream that has slipped away? I HAVE

I remember being young and I wanted to be a professional basketball player. I would train 5/6 times a week, train first thing in the morning for a hour before college, spend the weekend playing whilst friends went to the town. I lived basketball and it was my dream, but that dream never became a reality.
Some might say it was because I wasn't 6ft plus, because I never had the jumping ability of a frog or because I was born in a wrong country that's dominated by football.
Those was all potentially valid points but the truth was I listened to the negativity from those around me.
"Your to small", "Wrong country for basketball", "Education education". I also listened to that negativity that was inside me "I'm not good enough". Before I knew it I played with a lack of confidence so when the opportunities arised to showcase my talents before certain coaches I was found wanting. Not because I never had the talent but I lacked the belief.

What I needed then was a person to say "You Can DO IT", "Dreams do come true" and "This is how we (together)can do it". That person could have made all the difference. I'm not saying that I would with that person be now playing in the NBA. But what I am saying is at least I could have said it went for it 100% no regrets.

Like that young man tonight, he had the dream all he needed was some one to say "DON'T LOSE YOUR WAY", "DREAMS DO COME TRUE", "Here is a plan of attack".

I have learned from my mistakes and I am implementing those people who have encouragement, wise word, knowledge me to help me is fulfilling my new dreams. Questions is DO YOU

Careful What You Wish For

Have you ever wished that you could bypass the journey to your success and arrive at the final destination?

I have many times, I'm so impatient. Also at times the journey feels so long before I am seeing the results that I would want to see. FRUSTRATION CITY.

If only I had a magic stick to fast forward life. The answer to my prays you think! WRONG!

I watched a movie on Sunday called 'Click' with Adam Standler, I think that how you spell his name. If not doesn't matter. The film was based on a working husband of two kids, he had a very pressured job that left him with very little time. He wish to fast forward life to become a partner in his company without the pain. Luckily for him he thought he had a device given that allowed him to speed up his life.
He used the device and got the position of Partner without the hard work, but he lost out on time with his wife, kids and the passing of his father.
He realised that he had made a mistake and wanted all those fast forwarded times back including the stress of becoming a partner.

The moral of the story was enjoy TODAY with it up and downs because you will never get them back again. Look for the positive, time with kids, time with wife and friends, growth gained in the midst of challenges, conquering your challenges.

I decided to ensure to enjoy TODAY and stop wishing for tomorrow.

TREATS

Just come back from a meal at the CUBE with friends, had a great evening.

The restaurant is on the 25th floor and has panoramic views of Birmingham, truly amazing especially at night when the city is lit up.
You may ask why am I sharing this, people don't want to read about my social life via a blog! The reason that I share is to say the meal, the views, dressing up, meeting with friends gave me not only a wonderful night but also the drive to work harder, when in truth I was losing some focus.

On your journey you got to once in a while treat yourself, because you should never forget that you will reap what you sow. If you work hard, enjoy when possible the fruits of your labour.

I will never forget wise words my mother spoke to me. "If you never treat yourself, you will begin to hate the hard work and no longer see the benefit"

Now don't get me wrong I not saying party every weekend, not at all. Or spend like no tomorrow, not at all. What I am saying is once in a while TREAT YOUR SELF. YOUR WORTH. You will also be surprised it can bring back the drive and passion to push on towards your goals to be able to treat your self and may others more.

Slow down

I  am someone who continually works at a 100 miles a hour.

I am someone who is here and there and every where and aim to fill every moment of everyday
But today I felt tired, and God said to me to stop, just STOP. Not slow down but stop everything I was doing and just rest.

Sometimes you just need stop and give your time to reflect, think and take stock.

Am I going in the right direction, am I happy doing what I am doing, am I balanced.

More important am I rested

Rest is important and much as working hard is important.

I know many books that I have read suggest working for 24 hrs a day because that is the route to success. I agree to achieve anything takes hard work but not at the risk of your health, sanity, relationship and peace.

After a half day of rest, I feel more positive and energized to achieve the goals set.

So  on my route to success I will continue to work hard, but also play hard, and rest hard.

Living in the Past

It is so easy to live in the past instead on living in the present and look forward to the future.

I'm in a situation where I need to build a relationship with a individual but historically situation have been preventing from moving forward with that individual.

The reason being I presume that what happened in the past will be the thing that happens in the future and because of that in my subconsciousness I refrain from doing what I need to do.

The truth is I need to leave the PAST in the PAST and work from today celebrating what is going to happen in the future.

The only thing I should be taking from the PAST is learning,  how can I do things better to create a better situation this time around.

So here to LIVING IN THE MOMENT and CELEBRATING THE FUTURE
