One SIN that gets us all

Morning All

I remember sitting in Church and the pastor read from the bible and it stated
"There is one sin that beseeches us all"

I sat there thinking what could that be, I started racking my mind.
Could it be LUST? No because I know people who don't struggle with this sin
Maybe it is LOVE of Money? Nope because I know people who are not bothered about money at all
It got to be ANGER? Nah not that either because some people are so laid back they fall asleep before they had chance to get angry.

WHAT CAN IT BE? The answer is

That's right, the answer was doubt (Lack of Faith). At some point every person on the earth has struggled with this one.
DOUBTING - Am I with the right person in this relationship
DOUBTING - I don't deserve to get that pay-rise or promotion
DOUBTING - I'm not good enough to go through university
DOUBTING - The business idea I have will never work
What ever it is we have all had times when we have struggled with a LACK OF FAITH (Doubt)

I had mine this morning, I woke up same time but had this feeling of FEAR and DOUBT come over me, concerning the following

Can I raise the finances to live in Kenilworth and live in a home that I personally dream of
Can Gen-Hope become the social enterprise that goes on to be a blessing to young people in the UK
Can we reach our £211'000 qtr target in the Distribution business.

We all these doubts I did the one thing I knew personally I needed to do. GET ON MY KNEES AND PRAY. I never had alot to say I just wanted to hear from God about my situations.  Believe it all not God did speak and he told me to 'BELIEVE' and TRUST in him.

I came out of that time of pray and said you know what WHAT AM I FEARING. I will find a way to resolve any problems that stands in the way of achieving my goals. It might take hard work, it may take longer than I like but it will happen. I just need to continue to build my faith daily and not let DOUBT take a foot hold

On the journey to your goals you will face that enemy of DOUBT. Before you meet him have a plan how you will deal with it. My tool is PRAY what is your?
(You may also like to watch a video about FAITH, we recorded a few months ago and it can only help you on your journey. http://youtu.be/TEWahR-fSko

Have a blessed day people

9 YEARS MARRIED

Good morning world

This morning I celebrate nine years of marriage, that right nine years of marriage little old me.

Want I wanted to share this morning to get to this point (nine years) has not been easy. Both me and my wife have had our share of problems, arguments, disagreements etc. We had those days we have upset and even hurt one another.

But we decided that we would not quit. When we took our vows it was for life for good and bad. Let me tell there has been days I am sure that my wife has thought what am I doing here. "I AM A LADY, GET ME OUT OF HERE" lol.

Bless her, she held in there and I can state that our marriage has gone from strength to strength, because I have had to learn to change and adapt, more importantly COMPROMISE. Both of us also had to learn to forgive when the other one messed up, we both also had to learn to say sorry. At times it feels like i say SORRY more than her (NOT COUNTING OR NOTHING) Lol

A big factor in achieving this milestone has been learning to appreciate one another for who we are and loving the fact that we are different and we handle things in a different ways at times and that's OK. We also had to learn to be in a partnership and seek out each other strength and roles and praise that. My wife is the carer of the home and the kids and she good at that. I was the bread winner and my role is to take care of the finances. It may have been the other way round that I was the home and kids carer and she was the bread winner, either way it doesn't matter we just learnt who did what best.

Final point I got to share is marriage is a LEARNING CURVE. I understand my wife more know than 11 years ago and I know I will understand her more in another 10 years. Every year you will learn more about that person but also I and my wife have gone to seminars and have marriage disciple to ensure we also learn how to build a great marriage.

So to every one out there starting out in dating my words of encouragement are "if me and my wife can do it, so can you"

Also I know that we live in a society that feels marriage is not important but trust me, marriage has been one of the best things to happen in my life that has allowed me to obtain the success I have so far. When you have someone who loves you, supports you and care for your needs, WHO CAN STOP YOU.

Comfort or Thriving

Wow been a long time since I have written on my blog.

But good to be back.

Wanted to to share some important development that a lot of you might relate to.

In the distribution business I am apart of we had some really good success in the last two years even in the midst of all that has been going on in the economy.
In truth if the business stayed the same as it has been for the last two years then we are in a comfortable place (Comfort zone). But not sure if you are anything like me I was getting bored.
The reason being I felt like that I had exhausted my challenges and I was just through the motion, to the point I should do what I needed to be done with my eyes closed and without having to really engage my mind. I was also bored of speaking about last year successes

To some this might seem cool but I am of the mindset that if your not going forward your going backwards. No one person, or business standstill it is either moving forwards or backwards and I felt that if I didn't change something soon I and the business would begin to go backwards.
I remember reading Steve Jobs autobiography and he stated "If you don't cannibalism yourself some one will come and eat you instead". To give a example of what he meant was by creating the laptop it was eating at sales of the PC, creating the IPAD was eating sales of the laptop. What Steve understood if he didn't continue to move the business forward and stood still another company would eat them up.

Based on this I decided that we needed to launch a new division (NEW CHALLENGE / MOVING FORWARD). So I presented the idea to management and they agreed. We have just employed a new person who will begin with us in September to help the dream become a reality. BUT in the midst of this comes the FEAR. What if this fails and the idea does not work. The truth is if it does not work we would have to make people redundant which believe me having to do it in the past is not a nice feeling. Having that thought in the back of the mind for me makes me work harder to make it work and realise the dream of building a hugely successful and profitable (And enjoyable)

I will share more over the months how we get on. I can tell you know it will not be easy, but when it works it going to be amazing to look back and see what could be do.

So the question is 'are you in a comfort zone or thriving'?

A saying that I love from Zig Ziglar "See you at the top"

Justice

I was just contemplating a situation recently.

If I was not to believe in God life would just be unfair and truly unbearable.

Lets check this out for just a minute
"Why does a child die every four seconds due to a lack of basic needs, when in the western world we have a epidermic called obesity that means we are seeing more children severely overweight, how is that fair?"

"Working family face financial ruin because of no fault of their own other than trusting in government and banks to do the morally thing and do what was right, how is that fair?"

"Young boys and girls are on a daily basis being abused by the very people that should be taking care of them, these kids never asked to be born, you can't tell me this is fair!?

I could go on and on and on with examples of injustice, but I am not writing this from the point of view of complaining about life injustice. I want to come from the angle to ask the question if you don't believe that one day every one will be judged how do you cope???

Seriously! I am a believer in Jesus and so believe that all of us one day will be judged for our actions. Both those that are evident to all and those things that we do in secret.

I remember being in church once and the preacher said "what if following you around was a video screen that showed every one what you have done and what you was doing". Challenging right that really convicted me to know that God see all things even those things we think are secret and he see all that has been done to us.

This make you check yourself to say look I need to fix up sharp but also it stops you from being overly judgmental of others. I say this many times I want to complain about other people but then I review my day and I then have to keep quite as I know I have been far from perfect.

But lets also be real. I can get ticked off when I see injustice like some of the things that I mentioned earlier. But I am comforted when I know that even though at times murderers, abusers, bullies and oppressors seemed to get away with blue murder I know that it will only be for a time. One day they will have to answer to God like I will and account for everything that they have done.

So I leave you with to things

If like me you get frustrated with injustice know that God knows and sees everything.
Second, remember you will also be judged so make your right before you meet our maker.

Bless

Sacrifice

If you want to achieve you got to SACRIFICE.

We all know that right! We hear business people all the time state that they SACRIFICED sleep, time and finances to build their business.

We hear of sports stars that SACRIFICE  their time, socialising everything to become the best in their in their field.

So the understanding of SACRIFICE is not new to any of us. We all know that to achieve something we might have to give up something.

I want to share something with the world in relation to my kids. I have some beautiful children and I always wanted to be a great father from a early age. Due to my past I was determined not to repeat thing that happen in my life in the life of my kids.

But there was a major problem I never understood to have a great relationship with my kids was going to take more than a great desire. It was going to take the same action that sports stars, business owners make SACRIFICE.

My kids want to play with me. "Dad, dad can we play fight", "Dad, dad can we play lego", "Dad, dad can I read to you", "Dad, dad can you come to my play"?

What was my answer! For years I would give this answer.

"Later kids, Daddy busy", "Can we play tomorrow"

Now these responses where plausible, I was busy building a future for my kids. (HOUSE, SECURITY ETC)

But something began to ring home and hit when my kids said "Your always working", "you never play with us"

WOW!!!! I realised that what my kids where saying was you never spend time with us.

Right! Time for change!!!

Unfortunately my life because I have decided to spend time with my kids was not going to get less busy. The difference was going to SACRIFICE.

Firstly I had stop being SELFISH, it was not about me but about my KIDS
Secondly I realised I had to become dedicated to them (QUANTITY as well as QUALITY)
Thirdly I had to accept that I had to SACRIFICE what was important to me to want was important to THEM (Kickboxing, lego, doctors and nurses whatever)

I can say of late my kids get more time with their FATHER and I am reaping the rewards. But it came at a cost but it been worth everything I had to give up.

So if your prepared to give all to your business, career, make sure that you apply that same SACRIFICIAL mentality to what's really important (FRIENDS, KIDS, WIFE, PARTNER & FAMILY)

Focus, focus, focus

Been a long time since I have written on my blog.

Wanted to share we you why. LACK OF FOCUS.

One of my problems is my mind is full of ideas and things that I must do. Which in one sense is great because  I always see opportunities, but on the other hand can be a curse.

The reason that I say that is because I can become so excited about every idea that come into my head that I forget the to complete the idea I started yesterday. What then can happen is you get lots of great potential ideas that amount to nothing.
This happens to me, I get presented with a idea and my character is yes lets do it. But what I am learning is I have to learn to say NO. Even to good causes that might be worthwhile, because DISTRACTION is the root of much FAILURE.

My daughter has a saying "Dad, you must manage your DISTRACTIONS" and she is 100% right. Learn to complete your first task then move onto the next.

So going back to my title I require FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS

That includes staying on top of my blog.

Losing your way

Just came in from meeting with a young guy this evening.

To protect the identity of the young man I will not give to much away about this guy but to say he in his early 20's and had a dream but life almost rob him of that vision for his life.

What I mean is this. The young man five years ago had a dream to set up a enterprise/ venture that would help young people deal with real issues that they face today in a medium that they prefer. It's a great idea, but it was almost lost.
I spent 90 minutes with this young guy trying to find out was his passion, drive, vision I got nothing but clique answers that anyone could of said. But after drilling down a while he began to share that this was a dream / vision from five years ago, BUT he thought it would never happen so don't thinking about it!!!!

(DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR)

When this young guy began speaking about his vision, you could not stop him. He even had a name for the venture and made a song about it. (This was a hidden treasure that could have been hidden for ever) Following a further thirty minutes we devised a plan how we / he could get this plan of the ground. Needless to say the individual is feeling pumped about what tomorrow will bring, compared to feeling quite downcast.

Now the question is HAVE YOU had a dream that has slipped away? I HAVE

I remember being young and I wanted to be a professional basketball player. I would train 5/6 times a week, train first thing in the morning for a hour before college, spend the weekend playing whilst friends went to the town. I lived basketball and it was my dream, but that dream never became a reality.
Some might say it was because I wasn't 6ft plus, because I never had the jumping ability of a frog or because I was born in a wrong country that's dominated by football.
Those was all potentially valid points but the truth was I listened to the negativity from those around me.
"Your to small", "Wrong country for basketball", "Education education". I also listened to that negativity that was inside me "I'm not good enough". Before I knew it I played with a lack of confidence so when the opportunities arised to showcase my talents before certain coaches I was found wanting. Not because I never had the talent but I lacked the belief.

What I needed then was a person to say "You Can DO IT", "Dreams do come true" and "This is how we (together)can do it". That person could have made all the difference. I'm not saying that I would with that person be now playing in the NBA. But what I am saying is at least I could have said it went for it 100% no regrets.

Like that young man tonight, he had the dream all he needed was some one to say "DON'T LOSE YOUR WAY", "DREAMS DO COME TRUE", "Here is a plan of attack".

I have learned from my mistakes and I am implementing those people who have encouragement, wise word, knowledge me to help me is fulfilling my new dreams. Questions is DO YOU

Careful What You Wish For

Have you ever wished that you could bypass the journey to your success and arrive at the final destination?

I have many times, I'm so impatient. Also at times the journey feels so long before I am seeing the results that I would want to see. FRUSTRATION CITY.

If only I had a magic stick to fast forward life. The answer to my prays you think! WRONG!

I watched a movie on Sunday called 'Click' with Adam Standler, I think that how you spell his name. If not doesn't matter. The film was based on a working husband of two kids, he had a very pressured job that left him with very little time. He wish to fast forward life to become a partner in his company without the pain. Luckily for him he thought he had a device given that allowed him to speed up his life.
He used the device and got the position of Partner without the hard work, but he lost out on time with his wife, kids and the passing of his father.
He realised that he had made a mistake and wanted all those fast forwarded times back including the stress of becoming a partner.

The moral of the story was enjoy TODAY with it up and downs because you will never get them back again. Look for the positive, time with kids, time with wife and friends, growth gained in the midst of challenges, conquering your challenges.

I decided to ensure to enjoy TODAY and stop wishing for tomorrow.

TREATS

Just come back from a meal at the CUBE with friends, had a great evening.

The restaurant is on the 25th floor and has panoramic views of Birmingham, truly amazing especially at night when the city is lit up.
You may ask why am I sharing this, people don't want to read about my social life via a blog! The reason that I share is to say the meal, the views, dressing up, meeting with friends gave me not only a wonderful night but also the drive to work harder, when in truth I was losing some focus.

On your journey you got to once in a while treat yourself, because you should never forget that you will reap what you sow. If you work hard, enjoy when possible the fruits of your labour.

I will never forget wise words my mother spoke to me. "If you never treat yourself, you will begin to hate the hard work and no longer see the benefit"

Now don't get me wrong I not saying party every weekend, not at all. Or spend like no tomorrow, not at all. What I am saying is once in a while TREAT YOUR SELF. YOUR WORTH. You will also be surprised it can bring back the drive and passion to push on towards your goals to be able to treat your self and may others more.

Slow down

I  am someone who continually works at a 100 miles a hour.

I am someone who is here and there and every where and aim to fill every moment of everyday
But today I felt tired, and God said to me to stop, just STOP. Not slow down but stop everything I was doing and just rest.

Sometimes you just need stop and give your time to reflect, think and take stock.

Am I going in the right direction, am I happy doing what I am doing, am I balanced.

More important am I rested

Rest is important and much as working hard is important.

I know many books that I have read suggest working for 24 hrs a day because that is the route to success. I agree to achieve anything takes hard work but not at the risk of your health, sanity, relationship and peace.

After a half day of rest, I feel more positive and energized to achieve the goals set.

So  on my route to success I will continue to work hard, but also play hard, and rest hard.

Living in the Past

It is so easy to live in the past instead on living in the present and look forward to the future.

I'm in a situation where I need to build a relationship with a individual but historically situation have been preventing from moving forward with that individual.

The reason being I presume that what happened in the past will be the thing that happens in the future and because of that in my subconsciousness I refrain from doing what I need to do.

The truth is I need to leave the PAST in the PAST and work from today celebrating what is going to happen in the future.

The only thing I should be taking from the PAST is learning,  how can I do things better to create a better situation this time around.

So here to LIVING IN THE MOMENT and CELEBRATING THE FUTURE

Mentors

Me and the wife have just meet our new mentors (We both are buzzing at the moment)

Statement some might ask is you don't need a mentor, every thing cool with you guys!

Well you show me some one that succeed in anything that does not have a mentor in place in some capacity.

I personally have to be very careful not to ever believe that I am better than I really am by not taking advice especially when it comes to my family (wife and kids). Funny thing the couple we have requested to disciple us said "any one can be a mentor you just have to be one step ahead of the people that you are mentoring"
We want to learn from those that are one step ahead so that we stay one step ahead.

Also it will be great to have a neutral party to discuss certain issues with when things are not perfect and you need to get clarification as a couple.

I will keep you posted how we get as time goes by.

My recommendation is this. If you are serious about achieving anything in life especially if you are in a relationship get your self a mentor /Disciple r

Negative People

It surprises me just how many negative people there is in the world and how few positive people there is.

Two people today really inspired me, one called Richard. He not overly educated but what he has is drive and determination. He was on the books for a professional football team but got a injury which cut short his career. His mum had has a illness that caused her to be wheel chair bound.  He could of moan about it but he never he just got on with it and now he running his own business and even though it is incredible tough he still pushing and looking for ways to progress. I love speaking with him  as I get so inspired, we speak almost every day sometimes until 12 at night speaking about business and what we can achieve.

The second person is a gent called John who a self made millionaire at at 75 years old he has more energy that some 30 year old. Recently he had a operation on his knee, a few weeks later he walking around catching the tube and still looking to create new business and help people realise their dreams. Spending time with him over the last two days has truly inspired me to do more and expect more out of life.

Then on the other hand I hear people moaning about a lack of money, lack of opportunities, sleeping all day every day, hate work etc etc etc. These people are draining and before you know it you end up complaining like them. I realised over the last week I became of of those negative people and it was this morning I read a scripture and it made me realise how lucky I am.

Lucky to live in the UK
Lucky to be able bodied
Lucky to have freedom

What am I moaning about, so I made a decision to think positive and what a day I had. Not to go into detail but great things are happening.

So what I say is this be careful how much time you spend with negative people or environments. Because if your not careful some one will be thinking wow isn't Denzil or ???? negative I don't wanna be around them.

Learning from the past

Ever heard that the saying "History repeating itself"

To often we see things from a previous generation being demonstrated by this generation and we ask the question why have they not learnt.

I personally believe it is because we don't look at history. I was blessed yesterday to speak to my Dad and we spoke for over a hour. He told me about the mistakes he had made in his life and the results of the mistakes that he has made.
I thanked him for his openness because by learning from his past I am able to avoid the obstacles and advance further than my father. Understand I not looking to compete with my Dad, but he shares his experience so that I can have a better life than him by making less mistakes.
I now find this time with him invaluable in enabling me to succeed, then it made me think that I must ensure that along with my friends I surround my self with people who have history

For instance do I speak to people who been married for 20 plus years, as I could learn from their past what has help to build the marriage and what to avoid.
Do I have a person who been successful in business for 15 years to learn what it takes to make and to stay successful. What was the pit falls I need to avoid and what are the key things I must do.

Don't get me wrong. I do believe by making your own mistakes you can learn a lot, but I could learn far more quickly by learning from the mistakes from others.

So I started with my Dad (Blessing) and also arranged to be mentored (Discipled) by a mature couple for my marriage, now on the look out for the right mentor for business.

Appreciation

It is really difficult to learn the art of appreciating the little things in life.

This morning my eldest daughter wanted to show play a song on her keyboard. My natural instinct was to say " babe I really busy this morning, play it to me tonight". But the thought came to me 'how do you know that you will be home tonight'. So I decided to listen her play not one song but three.

Speaking with my father yesterday who has earned lots of money in the past and had a great career and business said to me " as you get older you realise what really is important". Taking those words on board I realised that I personally get so easily entangled in wanting to MAKE MONEY, that it takes all my focus.

Even yesterday some one presented me a opportunity that could pay between £12- £17K extra per year, but it would have meant me sacrificing my dreams for my property business and my vision for Gen-Hope. For a moment because I was focused on cash I was prepared to sacrifice my dreams, but remembering my father words and God really speaking to my spirit, I realised that what is important if fulling my purpose and not chasing the cash.

Funny as I write this the scripture from Solomon springs to minds. Remember he was the richest man on the earth and denied himself nothing. But after he obtained everything he said "it was just a chasing after the wind". Because chasing after money you end up still always chasing money and you are never satisfied.

I'm chasing after fulfilling my purpose and ensuring I never speak the words "I wish I loved my wife, kids, family and friends more".

Also I got to learn to appreciate when I am today and ensure dreaming about tomorrow.

Digging Dip

I remember reading in a book called "Think and Grow Rich" there was a man who was digging for gold and after many month of no success in his quest to find the gold he desired he sold his expensive mining equipment to a guy for next to nothing.

The man that brought the equipment decided to continue to dig in the same mine that the man who sold him the equipment found now joy. A month later the man struck gold and the rest as they say is history.

Over the last week I have felt incredible tired and times falling asleep at the laptop and struggling to get out of bed. I realised that this is were you have to dig deep. The greater the treasure the harder you are going to have to work and push through the rumble that is in the way of me obtaining my gold moments.

This is also why it is so important to get a good team around you.
1) Those that have already pushed through to give advice and direction
2) Those that will encourage you
3) Those that will hold you accountable
4) Those that will inspire you.
5) Those who will remind you what you fighting for and that it is worth IT.

I refuse to be the man that quits just a mile from hitting Gold, only for some one else with a bit more guts to come and steal my treasure.

Also this moment of pushing up the mountain will only be for a season and then it will be time to rest before we seek the next mountain.

What to do

Yesterday I  was presented with a opportunity that on one sense brought great joy and on the other side great fear.

Let me share.

I have a business opportunity that would open the door to the POTENTIAL to obtain great success, but it would mean leaving the SAFETY of the comfort zone of what I have been doing for the last two years.

The funny thing is I recently said to someone that I manage that no one stands still. (Nothing stands still) so you are either moving forward or backwards. Now the time is arriving is am I going to move forward  and come out of the comfort zone and push my self to the next level or trend water going backwards.

The question is my belief in my potential and the belief in my self to achieve my potential. I think these are dilemma we all face and these forks in the road are the reason that some go on to fulfill their dreams ans some keep on dreaming.

I heard a great quote from Richard Branson "I am prepared to Risk ALL because I cannot take it with me"
The same verse is in the bible "naked I come and naked I shall depart"

So in the next few months BIG DECISIONS to be made. The one thing that I have learnt is in my time in making big decision is gather all the information you can and mitigate as much risk as possible then take the plunge.

Doing what you love

I remember reading a book years ago about Micheal Jordan, the reason they say that he is so good is because he WORKS HARD at what was his GIFTING. The two together meant that he was able to perform at the highest level.

The other point that the book made was that some one might work harder that Micheal Jordan but without the GIFT they will never perform at the same heights, but they can still do a great job. Also a person with the gifting of Micheal Jordan without the WORK HARD ethic will never perform at the highest level and achieve the success of Micheal Jordan.

When I read this I was doing recruitment and by some measure I had some success I had become a Recruitment Manager so achieved more than most. But the only reason that I achieved that success was because I WORK HARD but I'd seen others work less and achieve more because they were gifted in that arena.
After reviewing this I decided to leave the industry and pursue my GIFT (PURPOSE).

I knew I loved business and wanted to know more about business so I placed my self in a arena to learn. I also keep my hard work attitude and with the two years the organisation that I help manage is performing stronger year by year. This QTR we hit our target with a month to go and achieved our best QTR ever recorded.

I say this  because I meet so many people working in a role / position that they don't enjoy. GUESS WHAT! If you remain there you will never perform at the highest level because you lack the passion because you are not working in the arena of your gifting (PURPOSE)

I am still working on this and have to at times turn down opportunities that pay more, because I know I would do OK but it is not my gifting so I will not enjoy if for long.

Don't waste your life chasing someone else dream go after your own.

Don't forget the little things

Just speaking to a friend this morning, it is easy to focus on the bigger picture but forget to do the small things well.

There is a saying what you do today will determine your tomorrow. So it is no good having your head in the clouds dreaming all the time at some stage you must do what it is you need do today to ensure your dreams can come true.

A saying my friend Tim always say is "we can be so heavenly minded but no earthly good"

That's a real challenge for me as I tend to be a person that loves to dream of what will be and forget to do what I need do today.

I find also this for myself is where alot of frustration lie. Because I at times don't do the things that I need to do today I end up frustrated because I feel that the dream is to far off or taking longer than expected.
But if you do something small it still momentum towards the dream and keeps the fire burning and the passion flowing instead of nothing which leads to nothingness.

Business is a exciting world to be apart of.

I reflected today and realised I love business.

Like truly love business. Today I equated business to like raising a child, every step of the journey is a new experience that brings it own problems but also it own rewards.

What I love about business is the possibility of what can be achieved with a vision, hard work, and a sprinkle of luck. Today had a official meeting with my future partners in a venture that could change a industry, bold statement but it is true.
We are at the beginning of a three year plan that if executed well will bring about tremendous success and prove than there is no perfect time to set up a business just do.
In all truth I think that right now is the perfect time because the market we are in is fragile and every one is running scared instead of embracing the times and innovating ideas that work with the times.

Once we have the solid fountains laid I will be sharing more via the blog, facebook and youtube. So you can have a fly on the wall view how we will begin to transform what is a very old and dated industry. (I so want to tell you more but I can't!!!!!!!)

It going to be three years of sacrifice so those that know me don't expect to see me much, but to achieve any thing in life it takes sacrifice and the vision I have is worth it.

One question for anyone who is reading this blog, do you have a idea for a business right now? If yes go for it what do you have to lose?

Also to share we have agreed a price at the Hyatt so watch out for the Gen Meet from www.gen-hope.co.uk that will be launching this month with limited spaces.

Can't Sleep

If you ask any one around me I sleep around 5- 6 hours a day.

I not that I cannot sleep because when my head hit that pillow I sleep like a baby. My problem is there is so much to be done and no time to complete it.

I am of the opinion I have been blessed to live in the UK, blessed to have health and blessed to have a purpose in live and blessed to have God in my life that give me the faith that dreams can come true.

We just emailed the Hyatt to prayfully book in the dates for the Gen Meet monthly meeting, worked on the business plan for the new venture and reviewing finance to ensure we as a family is secure.

Ask yourself are you always tied you got to find your passion and direction in life. Lots of people say I should slow down but my question is WHY. I don't know how long I have on this earth until I pass on to Heaven so in the time I have I going to fit in as much as I can.

Time to sign off and get ready for a new day to conquer.

Changing your standard

Enlightening Network
Hi All
Just a short post today. I over the last two days I have been really blessed by three friends who are out there making it happen. I will share their names because I think it is important.

First is Michael Edmeade of Body Sharp. He set up his business trying to change the lifestyle of people who desire to be healthy and change their bodies after more than a year he taking a greater leap of faith and opening up Bodysharp gym. http://www.bodysharp.co.uk

The second person is Liam (Waves - personal nickname)Francis who has also stepped out in faith and set up a business around his gifting of poetry http://www.poems4you.org . What I love about this young man is that unlike a section of the young community he is not moaning about a lack of government hand outs or how he was born in the wrong area, he just saying no excuses I am going to make it happen.

The third person is Roger Moore of www.glmedia.co.uk This guy has the heart of a champion. He been knocked and he refusing to stay down and like Apple he keep re inventing himself and moving with the times. Also he is helping young kids establish their dreams and providing a environment that breeding positivity and productivity among young people.

What is also inspiring about all three they have a deep down desire to help people more than the obsession of making money. They all want to make a difference to those around them.

I could mention so many other people that have inspired me this week alone. Why I wanted to share this is to say look at the people you speak to the most, hang around with, listen to, get advice from. Are they raising your standards or lowering your standards.

I remember a good friend Tony said to me name the 10 people who you interact with the most. Review their lives and find the common theme and that is a indication of what your life is or what your life will become. That is either exciting or demoralising dependant on the 10 people.

If you want to change your life, raise your standards.

Do be unevenly yoked with the wrong crowd!!!

Building Bridges

Really wanted to share this today because I know that it does affect alot of people.

I was speaking with my Dad today and we must of spoke for over a hour, and when we speak it far ranging from politics, economic to religion. We have a really good relationship but that was not always the case.

What I wanted to share is my parents broke up when I was around seven years old. For a long time I held bitterness towards my father which had a dramatic impact on our relationship. I was not interested in having a relationship, friendship call it what you will.

But when I became a Christian all that changed. The reason being was I understood that like my dad I'm not perfect and neither is any person that walks on the earth.
With this way of thinking it produced the mindset who am I to judge my Dad when I have my own issues to deal with.
Also I had to learn forgiveness because I was asking God to forgive me of my sins but holding onto the sin that were against me. HYPOCRITE.
The two things removing judgement and having forgiveness allowed a new friendship to be born and now I can say me and my dad speak for a few hours every week.

Now that I learnt these lesson I can apply them to any other relationships that my need building. But also I should state that having forgiveness and not being judgemental gives you also a sense of freedom to focus on thing that are important and are liberating instead of things that are time consuming, energy sapping and joy stealing. Question? Have you ever met a happy bitter person!

Opportunity Knocks

What a day today.

Day started at 5.30  and we are just about to sign off before a 6 start in the morning for a meeting in Ipswich.

But no need to feel sorry for me. Right about know I don't want to sleep I am just to excited about the future.

The reason for my excitement is in the post title. Opportunity knocks and the opportunities even in this market are knocking. Firstly had a meeting with  company GL360 Production (Plug for them) who are doing the videos for Gen Hope and the first video production is looking good release should be next week fingered crossed, you will be inspired. From that meeting had a call from a prospect who looking for some coaching from Gen Hope helping them to set up their business and gain some direction and also accountability.
As soon as I put down the phone went into my second meeting. Now I cannot say to much at this stage but just know that a new venture is on the books and we are looking to change what currently is a pretty dated service sector industry. Over the two hours the level of excitement between me and the potential business partner was immense. Reviewing what potentially we could achieve in the next three years with alot of work (More long day and little sleep, who needs sleep) drive and God's favour (wink wink)  it just enough to want to begin working on the project now even though the clock is saying 00:24.

You might be asking why the title 'Opportunity Knocks'. The reason being the second meeting, the potential business partner approached me to partner him in a business they have already sent up and have healthy turnover  but looking for input to take it to the next level ideally. Now I had to be in the right place to get the potential great opportunity to knock on my door. But also be in the right place to take on the opportunity.

The one thing I am learning if you put yourself in the right environment, around the right people, speak about your vision sooner or later you will begin to attract the opportunities that you are looking for.

2012 is already shaping up to becoming a great year and it's begun.

Keeping it going

Any one can start the race, but not many finish it.

The reason being it is tough to finish the race. Ask any athlete and they will all say that when they are fresh every thing is OK but what happens after 30/ 60/90 minutes?
When the legs are tired, the heart is pumping out of your chest, your feeling physical sick but you cannot stop if you want to win. Those that can rise to the challenge will be the one that succeeds. But the truth is many people quit at those times and the funny thing is they usually where only moments away from their success.

I use the above to motivate me to to keep going. At the moment the dreams I have seem like a million miles way. Especially when things are not going the way you planned, projects not running smoothly, financing tight and you feel your the only one that truly believes in your vision and their is one part of me that thinks just take the easy route Denzil!! For me the easy route means forgetting the vision for Gen Hope, wife not having to work, my dream home and everything else that on my dream board. Instead accept what would be falling in line and being like so many other people I know moaning about life and what it not given them. Complaining that life's boring, same old, same old. Reminiscing on the past when we were 18 and life was easier.

Just writing this I realise more and more I have no choice but to continue towards what I want to achieve, no matter how many mistakes I make (Just learn from them), how many times I fail (Just learn from them) , no matter how long it takes (As long as I get there), no matter how hard it gets (Remember it harder to know you didn't try, than to have tried and failed)

So this post is for every one going after their dreams and not allowing life to get in the way.

Fighting for the right or wrong things

A few days ago some one said to me "I had to learn to pick my fights". Then someone else said they were fighting for a certain cause , in both instances  there was a reason to fight and a reason not to fight.

Then I begin asking myself the question am I fighting for the right things?

It is so easy to expend energy into something that just plain not worth it and the very thing that you should be fighting for get no efforts.

Why is this?

This is why it is important to have times of reflection to think is this worth my while and secondly have good counsel (Friends, mentors, family) who can bring the facts without emotional ties which can help to bring clarity.

I've decided to really review this over the next 48hrs to ensure that my energy is being directed in the right place.

Exposure

Speaking with a family member today they made me realise that all the people I have ever meet have had a impact whether that be large or small in my life.

Let me give you a example. A man I know lived a great life in regards to his career, finances, slept around with women, but never took care of his responsibilities. When I say responsibilities I mean his children. He never spent time with them, help them financially even though he could, and was pre occupied with living his life. Now forward this person life 20 or so years, this person have lost his career, cars and his health. He has no real strong relationship especially with his kids. The man is a shadow of his former self. Having this exposure to this person made me realise who I didn't want to be in life.

The same for certain people I have known that have had incredible talents but have not used it to progress and 10 years later that is all they have the potential to have been. I realised also I did not want to waste my potential.

On a positive note I meet a elderly gent, who is Mr Content. He always helping people and giving things and money away. He always offering encouragement and support to all around him, he was some one I wanted to be like.

I remember also meeting a person I will call MR T. He was a father that picked up his daughter, provided for his family, turned a negative life into a positive one. Dream big and obtained the dream. I said I want to eliminate that drive and passion in my life.

The biggest impact in truth that has come from a exposure to some one is my experience with Jesus. I know sounds crazy but so true. Daily he challenges me to do better, but also encourages that I can do better. He has taught me to be a husband and father when no one else has, how to dream and go for them when I had stop believing.

Every day we meet people and remember every one has a story to tell if your prepared to listen. No matter the story it can effect you in a positive way to bring about change.

Also be careful not to surround your self continually with negative people as that will also have a negative impact and mark on your life.

One Step at time

As mentioned before me and my best friend are doing a forty day walk in regards to our purpose.

Well today my friend showed my that by taking just one step is just as important as ten steps because it means momentum. Momentum that takes you closer to your purpose so any steps taken should not be taken lightly.

My problem like alot of people I only recognise the big things that I do, i.e. I purchased a property today, I sold £2'000 of products. The truth is these are good things but are what I would call the mountain top experience. I live in contentment in the mountain top experience but this stops me from also loving the journey.

By reviewing my day with my friend, I was taught once again to celebrate every step not just the great leaps. The truth is after reviewing the day I feel good about the day that I have had. It has been productive, wrote my blogs, made a great connection for the business and updated website. GOOD DAY

So my thought to share "ENJOY EVERY STEP OF THE JOURNEY"

Blessing of Marriage

As I mentioned from the outset success is more than money, it is about success in your relationship and marriage for me is included in that.
The title of my blog is road to glory and being married is a journey. I truly believe you learn so much about yourself in a marriage it is untrue.

Unlike when I am around friends, family or work colleague etc in my marriage I cannot hide who you truly are. At work you can keep up a pretence for 8 hours of the day and as soon as you clock out you switch to the real you. Same with friends you spend a few hours together and you can put on a mask "all is ok"  "I got it together", "AM COOL".
But in marriage you cannot keep up the pretence not for long anyway. You wife/ partner will be the one person in the main that can testify who you are and what you are.

I been married eight years and been with my wife 10 years in total. I learnt that I am selfish, moody, rude and at times unloving. But to the world I was a different character because they never really knew me. Now when faced with the challenge of looking at your self and saying wow this is me, there are two things you can do.
1) Say that just who I am and you married me like this TOUGH
2) Say OK I need to change because I want to be the same in the home as I am outside the home
I've chosen the later and what a decision that is.

One of the areas I working on is a challenge from the bible "Love your wife like Christ loves the church". Sound easy! IT'S NOT

What this means I must learn to love my wife even when we go through our storms. love her even if she not feeling me, love her when she doesn't want to speak to me, love her when she has hurt me. Also one of the big thing I had to learn and still learning is to LOVE without expectation. It easy to love my wife and do nice things for her when she responding to my love. But what happens when I love her and she does not return the favour, or shows appreciation for my efforts. WILL I STILL LOVE HER THEN? UMMMMMMM

The truth is I struggled with this I only wanted to love if I got a response or love when things were good. God states that not real love. Real LOVE is unconditional, the same unconditional love God has for his church.

Also writing this you will see none of this involves my wife, this is about me changing and being who I need to be a marriage.

I can say I learning this and implementing this is, which has been a blessing on our marriage and I believe it's the source that will take us through a additional eight years. The reason I say this is becuase God showed me how much more will your wife feel loved if you love her all the time, no matter what. Then she will know that she is my treasure and not just a feel good partner.

I must state once again IT NOT EASY BUT IT WORTH IT. This is true of any great success you desire to achieve in life.

Marriage is a blessing but you got to be prepared to learn about yourself and be prepared to change for the better, regardless how hard the change process can be.

Stop waiting for the perfect moment

Hi All

Wanted to share this as I feel that as it has been a blessing to me it can be a blessing you.

If from a organisation called UCB and a feature they have called word for the day. Whether you are a Christian or not the lesson are relevant to truly succeed.

Below is part one.

STOP WAITING FOR PERFECT CONDITIONS (1)
''He who observes the wind will not sow.'' Ecclesiastes 11:4
Too many of us stand on the dock waiting. We want the ship in place, the gangplank perfectly positioned, the weather right, and an engraved invitation before we're willing to launch out. It will never happen! Dreams don't move toward us, we have to move toward them.

One author writes: 'It's time to quit waiting for perfection, inspiration, permission, reassurance, someone to change, the right person to come along, the kids to leave home, the new administration to take over, an absence of risk, someone to discover you, a clear set of instructions, more self-confidence, or the pain to go away. Instead of saying, 'We've never done it before,' say, 'We have the opportunity to be first.' Instead of saying, 'We don't have the resources,' say, 'Necessity fuels invention.'
Instead of saying, 'There's not enough time,' say, 'We'll change how we work.' Instead of saying, 'We've already tried that,' say, 'We learned from experience.' Instead of saying, 'We don't have the expertise,' say, 'Let's network with those who do.' Instead of saying, 'Our vendors and customers won't go for it,' say, 'Let's show them the opportunities.' Instead of saying, 'We don't have enough money,' say, 'Maybe there's something we can cut.' Instead of saying, 'We're understaffed,' say, 'We're a lean, hungry team.' Instead of saying, 'It'll never get any better,' say, 'We'll try one more time.' Instead of saying, 'Let somebody else deal with it,' say, 'I'm ready to learn something new.' Instead of saying, 'It's not my job,' say, 'I'll be glad to take the responsibility.' Instead of saying, 'I can't,' say, 'By God's grace I can!

Life expectation

I with my best friend have set ourselves a 40 day challenge

40 days to create a generation of success. What this means that we will great such momentum in the next 40 days that will set the standard for the rest of the year.

Every day must consist of some work / action that falls in line with our chosen purpose. No excuses. In the 40 days we will be challenging one other to raise the bar in our lives. Also to change our way of thinking for 40 days to focus on the good and reasoning behind the good and bad things that will come our way in the next forty days.

Currently on day two and things are going well, but will keep you posted on how we getting on.

I expecting some amazing things so watch this space.

Ps ( the idea came from a message my pastor at renewal preached that in the bible 40 days represents generation. Example Jesus was in the desert forty days before his break through, Israel was in the desert 40 years before they reached he promised land) funny things is they say 40 days is what it takes to form a great habit

Great Poster

One Step Closer

I am one step closer to my purpose and for that reason I cannot quit.
I am one step closer to my purpose time to keep on pushing and wipe away the sweat.
The journey is not easy but no one said it would be.
Sometimes I feel the journey is lonely then I realise God is always with me.
Because this is my journey of purpose the ground is rocky as it has not be tread before,  but once I walk this path for others I have opened up the door.
I am one step closer to my purpose and for that reason I cannot quit.
I look over to the horizon "MY PURPOSE I CAN SEE IT"

The journey to the dreams in marriage, finance, fatherhood, Christianity are not easy journies and at times I think for a moment they are impossible task to complete. But then I say to my self I'm prepared to fight for the chance of obtaining compared to quitting and accepting.

Desire for wealth

I was really challenged recently by a message I heard from a pastor called Mark Driscoll from Mars Hill church.

His challenge was this, "has our desire for wealth stolen the very wealth that you truly desire"

A key point that he made was that the does chasing wealth get in the way of you seeing your kids, because your working 14 hour days seven days a week?

I must be honest I have chased wealth from a young age but never from the stand point of being MR BLING that was just not me, but from the stand point of not being poor. This drive comes from the fact that I have lived in lack whilst I was young and hated not going on field trips, not having the latest trainers, having no present on my birthday and worst of all seeing my mum have no money to give her kids for school dinners.
All these things caused me to be so money conscious that I would be the person that worked 14 hour days, 7 days a week. I would sacrifice time with my wife and my kids and when they complained that they never seen me I would state "Well I am paying the bills and giving you guys a lifestyle I never had"!

But the truth is I was not any more happy than I was a kid and poor. Why I asked my self I live in a nice house, I have enough clothes, been on holiday, kids go keyboard, guitar and kickboxing I have more than in my youth 10x over. Why still not happy?
Because what I really wanted was to spend time with parents, do family things, speak about my day and share my achievements. Then I thought that's what my wife and kids want and they was not receiving it. Yes they had stuff but what they wanted was more of me and I really wanted more of them.

So I made a decision Saturdays is family day, no mistake. That was a start, but I now I more often than not have dinner around the table with the kids. Ask them about the day, sometimes I wish I never asked. My eldest at eight has become a match maker to her friends. As long as she not looking to be paired with anyone that's OK!!!:). I also ensure that I read them the night time bible story once again more time with them. But the most important thing I make sure we have fun, play fighting, singing, dancing (I don't dance very well but we will still call it dancing), bike riding and we also go kickboxing in the same class. None of this doesn't cost any money or very little but it cost my time. But what a return on investment I am receive!!!

I also trying this with my wife (COMMUNICATION) I am repeatedly told this is important from my wife. The truth is I tried for years to buy my wife affection, but all she wanted was me. Me to listen and ask how was her day, to pay attention that she lost weight at the gym. Once again this doesn't cost money but cost my time.

NOW don't get me wrong I still work hard as I still have some financial goals and so does the kids and wife (Disneyland for the kids and a walk in wardrobe for the wife and Range rover for me). The difference now I make sure as much as possible I get the right balance.

The bible states "what is it to conquer the whole world and never have loved". I put it this way what good is it if you have a large bank account but no one you love to share it with?

Just looking at my kids sleeping tonight, I realise my true treasure. I have already purchased the true treasure, my job is to ensure that treasure grows and develops.

So go and take care of your financial wealth but ensure to invest time, effort into the true wealth that lasts a lifetime.

Character Testing

Recently posted pictures on a property that I am currently working on.

Everything had been going smooth until the electric cost came out as £500 more than expected and yesterday my plasterer advised that his cost due to the work has increase from £650 to £1000 and the materials cost have gone up by 50%. Still have the kitchen and flooring to complete and we are be hide the time line created for the tenant to move in.

There was a moment that I wanted to get stressed with the ever increasing cost of the project and the need to lay my hands of more cash. But I made a decision that this will be apart of my learning and instead of getting stressed I put the issues into perspective and find a solution. I took this mindset and applied it to a work issue by where I have a very talented individual who plays a key role in the business but I was finding difficult to fully utilise him to get a return on investment.
Once again instead of stressing at the prospect of letting him go, I made a decision to find a solution. With God blessing a solution was found and now I have incredible return on investment and a very motivated employee.

If I carry on like this it will not be long before I can tick the achievement of getting my Range Rover.

Seriously we can either focus on the lack or the potential it is a choice of the mind.

To share also I recently read to great books that help with transforming the mind. The first is Joyce Meyer book "POWER THOUGHTS" and the other book is by Tony Robbins "Awaken the giant with in". Both books are a great tool to help thinking correctly

Narrow Road

I have been quite over the last few weeks and been slacking in writing my daily/ weekly blog.

One of the reason has been the purchase of a new investment property. Property tends to be one of the areas I really want to develop as investor. I have spent the last 10 years in the market ranging from flipping properties. One example was purchasing and selling a property in the same day after paying for it cash (That was really scary) as the originally buyer pulled out and we had to find a buyer in a week.
I have also done refurb which earned me the right to a interview on Midlands Today discussing the problem with empty homes.

I currently working on a refurb project that we are renting out, thought I would share some pictures of the current project and then produce some after shots and you can let me know your thoughts.
Bathroom (Stripped and ready lick of paint)

Kitchen being removed for rewire and facelift

Front of House (Rubbish to be removed)

Some people think it has been crazy to buy in a uncertain market but I follow a rule from the bible, the road to glory is on the narrow road and the road to destruction is wide and well trodden. James Cann (Dragon Den) stated that he lived by this principle which was described in a different way by his father who stated "observe the masses and do the opposite". No one is buying at the moment even though properties are cheaper than before and they cashflow better than before. I see opportunity when others are seeing DOOM.

For every property that I have purchased I have felt nervous and fearful. This project tested me as we had investors pull out and mortgage offers withdrawn but I said I was determined to achieve against all the odds. I hear alot of people speaking about investing in property the reason alot will not is FEAR grips them of falling. The WHAT IF!!!!! Even now I worry but you must deny it and move one with great action whihc moves you out of doubt.

The truth is I have lost money and made money in property and on both fronts I have learnt which ensures that every inverstment is better than the last.

This for me along with www.gen-hope.co.uk are the main focuses work wise in my life so you will be seeing alot more about the property side of things in the future.

My words to any one reading this take a risk (one that you can afford to lose) and see what happens, the worst that can happen you LEARN ALOT. Second OBSERVE THE MASSES and do the opposite.
